Review by hotel critic
I recently had the pleasure of staying at Rostel Backpackers Hostel during a city trip to Pune, and it was a mixed bag of experiences. The hostel's location is a delight, particularly for those wanting to explore nearby attractions like Bund Garden and Osho Ashram, making it a perfect base for adventurous souls. Upon arrival, I was immediately charmed by the spaciousness of the bungalow and the relaxed atmosphere it offered—a stark contrast to typical hostel settings. The owner was an absolute gem, always available to assist guests and create a welcoming environment. He made us feel right at home, which is something I truly value during my travels. I did encounter a rather unpleasant experience with the hostel's manager, whose brusque demeanor soured my stay considerably. This contradiction left me conflicted, as the cozy, well-maintained rooms—complete with private bathrooms—offered substantial comfort and privacy. Even with this hiccup, the hospitable staff, including Vipul and Laxman, ensured that my needs were met with efficiency and kindness, which I greatly appreciated. The option for à la carte breakfast, featuring vegetarian and halal choices, was a lovely touch, allowing me to start my day on a delightful note. If you’re looking for a hub that combines comfort, great hospitality, and accessibility, Rostel Backpackers Hostel has much to offer, though a word of caution regarding the managerial style would be wise.
